So, after many years of having the desire to take controls behind a Mac, I purchased my first MacBook before leaving the country. I’m already in love with my glassy white machine, but it doesn’t come with many minor things that I recommend getting if you have recently acquired your mac, or if you’re simply bored with whats going on with your box.

1. iMovie HD ‘06 - My MacBook came with iMovie ‘08 which was very basic, iMovie HD ‘06 was a huge upgrade for what I wanted to accomplish with my film editor, including effects such as fast forward/slow down, and many extra titles and transitions.
2. Pixelmator - Pixelmator is a very inexpensive rival to photoshop, and also comes with a very pretty interface and works extremely well.
3. Aurora - Alarm clock. Wakes your Mac, which wakes you.
4. Firefox & Thunderbird - Alternate web browser and mail client.
5. Transmission - Damn good torrent client.
